Port Tampa

The view from way, way, way, South of Gandy in Tampa, Florida. (So far south you can hear them chasing birds away from the runway at MacDill.)

Traffic and Park News Make Tampa Tribune

In other news, gleaned from the CAPT meeting, the Tampa Tribune reports on traffic woes at Westshore/Interbay/Commerce, and development of a new park to honor civil rights activist Ellen Green who died Sunday. http://southtampa.tbo.com/southtampa/MGB1F6TYOSE.html

Some editorializing-This intersection has become progressively worse in the short time my family has lived in Port Tampa. Only a thrill seeker with delusions of invincibility, namely children and teens, would routinely cross the road here on foot. We can only hope that the city is more amenable to solutions before someone dies.

Hope someone tells Jim Burnside of Tampa's transportation department, even if the issue isn't under his office, that there was another accident at the Westshore/Interbay/Commerce intersection on Friday night. Apparently a driver going north on Commerce couldn't decide whether to make the left curve to Westshore or the right turn onto Interbay. Instead, the car went straight and bounced off the utility pole, leaving the neighborhood without electricity, and hit the Port Tampa City park sign.

Mr. Burnside, hope the driver wasn't anyone that you know.
