Port Tampa

The view from way, way, way, South of Gandy in Tampa, Florida. (So far south you can hear them chasing birds away from the runway at MacDill.)

Traffic and Park News Make Tampa Tribune

In other news, gleaned from the CAPT meeting, the Tampa Tribune reports on traffic woes at Westshore/Interbay/Commerce, and development of a new park to honor civil rights activist Ellen Green who died Sunday. http://southtampa.tbo.com/southtampa/MGB1F6TYOSE.html

Some editorializing-This intersection has become progressively worse in the short time my family has lived in Port Tampa. Only a thrill seeker with delusions of invincibility, namely children and teens, would routinely cross the road here on foot. We can only hope that the city is more amenable to solutions before someone dies.

Tampa Tribune Reports on Holiday Mobile Home Park

Here's the link to the Trib's story on DR Horton plans for the former mobile home park on Interbay. Just remember you read it here first!

Schooner Cove to Replace Holiday Mobile Home Park

The mobile homes are all out of the park on the north side of Interbay, east of Port Tampa, and the DR Horton sign is up. Floor plans, but not prices, are available on the
DR Horton, Schooner Cove web page. I do wonder when some commercial development will follow all this density. Horton is marketing this development heavily to the miitary by offering discounts, and touting its convenience to MacDill.

Rental Property Owner Makes Improvement

The Port Tampa Blog has featured this block of rental properties before, for negative reasons. Now we want to applaud recent efforts to improve things in the parking area immediately adjoining the library parking lot. Tenants used to have the choice of on street parking, using the library parking lot, or parking on the grass. The new parking area should improve pedestrian safety around the library as well as improving the appearance of this very visible Port Tampa block.
